Comfort and Care Setting
At The Dunes, clients enter an environment in which they are immediately put at ease by the very comfortable and luxurious environment that characterizes our Hamptons Estate. Upon entering the grounds and buildings of The Dunes, clients are warmly welcomed individually by members of The Dunes Staff.
Though rigorous in our Clinical Work and in setting a structured and disciplined agenda of daily activities, due to the high ratio of staff to clients at The Dunes, we are able to create a highly individualized experience for our clients. Being recognized and treated as an individual creates a distinct feeling of being important and cared for on the part of each Dunes client.
The first few days that a client has at The Dunes are dedicated to having the individual relax, feel safe, secure, comfortable and looked after—cared for. A variety of comforting options including the availability of massages, and excellent yet casual and warm dining experiences helps to set the tone for relaxation and comfort.
We believe a relaxed and comfortable client has the best frame of mind with which to take advantage of the work that is going to have to be done, during their stay with us.
Comfort & Safety are Fundamental
Helping a client to feel comfortable and safe after entering the Estate that is The Dunes, is an effective way to begin to ease clients away from their lives trauma and out of their need to be protective, skeptical, and wary. With defenses slipping away, clients are more quickly able to be receptive to the rigors of the clinical work and unique protocols that Dr. Howard J. Shaffer has created for The Dunes.
Treat a client with care, help have the client feel comfortable, and the investment in time and money to which the client has committed, in coming to The Dunes, pays off in dividends of being open to absorbing the highly individualized recovery program that we are able to provide, clinically, holistically and with a large variety of complementary healing options.
