Finally, A High-End Rehab Center In East Hampton For New York’s Wealthy!

When the 1% decides to break free of substance abuse or depression, there’s no need for elaborate travel plans. Freedom and sobriety, amid Jacuzzis, yoga instructors and lavish accommodations, are well within reach at The Dunes East Hampton, a luxury rehabilitation center that opened in December of 2010.

For Wall Street elite, this $5 million facility serves as the first luxury rehab center in Long Island. The program runs $45,000 per month, and government and insurance support are not accepted. The facility offers “scholarships” to a lucky few, who are otherwise unable to foot the bill.

“The weak economy is putting white-collar workers through a lot of stress, and drugs prescribed to relieve anxiety can quickly become a problem,” Dunes founder, Joe McKinsey told www.Bloomberg.com.

The Dunes 90-day programs combine 12-step treatments with dietician-approved gourmet food, massage, yoga, education sessions, exercise and equine-assisted therapy.

The facility caters to a growing demand for area addiction treatment programs. According to a recent report by the New York State Attorney General, Substance abuse rates, especially of prescription drugs, are soaring in Long Island.

Unfortunately, a correlation between sobriety and luxury treatment has yet to be discovered. “I’m not sure if folks struggling to stay sober need a personal chef,” says Jeffrey Reynolds, executive director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. “It’s great for people who require that environment, but they should think that rehab is a vacation. It’s not. Treatment is hard work.”

So why recover in luxury? “Why not?!” says McKinsey.

Though hard work, recovery does not necessitate unneeded suffering. Why not jump start the next chapter in indulgent style? Consider if luxury rehab in East Hampton is for you!
