Although Hurricane Irma has been downgraded and made its way out of Florida, it will take months or possibly years to clean up the devastation it left behind. Property was destroyed, cities were left without electricity and clean water, and more than 10 Americans died during the chaos. The Florida Keys were hit particularly hard.
To extend a hand to our comrades in Florida and the Southeast, The Dunes East Hampton in New York has begun offering special rehab services this week to those who are struggling with addiction and had to evacuate due to the tropical storm.
Hurricane Relief Rehab Services to Individuals Struggling with Addiction
If you were already thinking about entering rehab and you had to evacuate because of Irma – or if you have a loved one in such a predicament – our hurricane relief service can be the answer to your needs. We can get you into treatment quickly, and we’ll pick you up from the airport near here and help you get your recovery started right away.
Taking Referrals from Florida Rehab Centers
Our founder and CEO, Joe McKinsey, has already reached out to more than 10 addiction treatment centers in southern Florida – a region particularly impacted by Irma – with an offer to accept their clients into The Dunes.
“As Irma approached, there were a countless number of patients who had been receiving life-saving addiction treatment in rehabilitation centers around Florida,” said McKinsey. “For those who had been in recovery, their very sobriety was put at risk when Irma’s damage forced the evacuation of the rehabilitation centers. I know that the gift of sobriety saves lives every day. Those who were being treated for addiction are now in peril of losing their sobriety and their very lives.
“We have offered to accept a number of those patients into The Dunes so that they can continue their treatment program and work towards their sobriety. These are people with fragile lives and they are in need of a lifeline. We want to be as much of a resource as we can be for them.”
If you own a treatment center based in Florida or the Southeast and had to evacuate your facility, we’re ready to hear how we can help you. We’re still accepting referrals from rehab centers down south, so if you had a client who had to evacuate and you want them to continue treatment with as little interruption as possible, talk to us. Let’s work together to make sure no one who is seeking treatment or pursuing recovery goes without it during this difficult time in Florida and along the lower East Coast.
