Preparation is Key

Take your time to research the events you think you and your family will enjoy. Finding out more details about the event will give you a better idea of what to expect and prepare you for any potential triggers. Consider bringing your own non-alcoholic drink with you wherever you go. This will prevent others from asking you if you want a drink, or making you feel like you need one.

Come up with a backup plan in case the situation is too stressful. Make others in your group aware of the plan so they aren’t caught off guard if you need to duck out of the event early.
