Luxury Drug Rehab News: Chrissie Hynde Talks About Alcohol Addiction

Former Pretenders front woman Chrissie Hynde is speaking out against alcohol, calling it the “scandal of our times” and akin to drug addiction.

The 62-year-old rock star says that she experienced the dangers of alcohol abuse following jail time for being “so out of it”.

Chrissie also called out various television talent programs, stating that she would rather watch re-runs of the ‘80’s crime saga, ‘Minder’ than sit through an episode of ‘The Voice, while claiming that the younger generation of pop stars, including Miley Cyrus “haven’t lived a life”.

“Do you know what the scandal of our times is?” Chrissie told the Mail. “Alcohol. It kills many, many more people than heroin ever does. Drinking is still drug addiction, it just isn’t considered as such because it’s legal and taxed.”

“If you want to see what alcohol does, go to the emergency ward on a Saturday night. I’ve been in jail because I’ve been so out of it on alcohol, so I know what I’m talking about. Same with smoking. More people have died from smoking that in both world wars.”

In fact, Chrissie’s not so far off. Each year in the U.S., nearly 80,000 people die from alcohol-related causes, making it the third leading preventable cause of death in our country.

The Impact Of Alcohol Addiction

Drinking too much, whether over time or on a single occasion, and take a serious toll on your health. Alcohol negatively impacts the brain’s communication pathways, affecting the way the brain works and looks. Over time, these disruptions can result in mood and behavior changes, making it more difficult to move with coordination and think clearly.

Excess alcohol use also impairs heart and liver function, and may even increase the risk of developing certain cancers, including those of the breast, liver, throat and mouth.
